Lock each destination generator SKU with a controlled record of output architecture, receptacles, protection, mating accessories, evidence, and revisions.
“Outlet × 2” is not enough to approve a generator stock-keeping unit (SKU). Record each outlet's exact identity, output circuit, protection and supplied plug or cord in one destination-specific matrix. Return the record if the quote, sample and production files describe different sets.
This guide covers generator-side outputs and supplied accessories. It does not approve building inlets, field wiring, transfer equipment, backfeeding or installation.
Freeze one SKU identity before discussing outlets
Begin with one SKU and revision. The same generator platform may have different panels, labels, accessories and electrical builds. A connector photo or family name cannot define the order.
Link that SKU to the supplier's quote number, model/build and response revision. Record the destination, sales channel or intended use, and document language. If a physical sample exists, give it a unique ID.
The controlled identity should appear on or link to:
- the quotation and approved configuration schedule.
- the electrical basis and applicable output drawing.
- the panel drawing and interface list.
- sample photographs and deviation record.
- nameplate, panel labels, manual, carton, and packing artwork.
- the approved bill of materials and production change record.
“Same as the sample” is incomplete when the sample has no ID or the accepted differences are not recorded. “Standard configuration” is also incomplete unless the supplier names the exact controlled revision that the phrase represents.

Separate output architecture from connector choice
Define the electrical output before choosing the connector. The supplier must state what feeds each receptacle on the exact offered build; the connector's face does not reveal the whole circuit.
Start with fields, not assumed values:
- rated and maximum output values, including the terminology and controlling document used for each.
- voltage, frequency, phase, and any selectable or separately available output states.
- AC, DC, or other stated output categories that appear on the panel.
- the source path or circuit associated with each interface ID.
- output capacity shared among interfaces and restrictions on simultaneous use, where applicable.
- the protection device or protection path associated with each interface.
- the exact document, drawing, page, and revision supporting the return.
Use the generator voltage and frequency checklist to establish the destination electrical basis. That basis does not, by itself, select a connector. Two interfaces can look alike while their functions, ratings, conductor arrangements, controlling documents, or permitted applications differ.
Neutral, protective-conductor, bonding, and earthing questions also stay tied to the offered build and its intended use. Record the supplier’s model-specific document reference and assign any unresolved system question to the qualified project authority. Do not infer an arrangement from a photograph or transfer a conclusion from another generator.
Build the Destination SKU Interface Matrix
Create one row for every physical generator output interface. A row represents a controlled object, not a marketing label such as “EU socket,” “US outlet,” “industrial socket,” or “universal socket.”

Blank cells are unresolved. They do not mean “use the supplier default.” Keep the words used in the controlling document; do not replace an exact designation with a friendlier but broader regional name.
Link each row to its source document and revision. A connector rating, weather-protection claim or conformity statement must name the object it covers. Without that scope, the buyer cannot judge whether it applies to the quote.
When an OEM order changes the panel, receptacles, protection labels, cord sets, manual, or packing list, attach the destination interface matrix to the BEAR OEM and private-label project review.
Match the load path without assuming an adapter solves it
Trace the whole path from the generator output through the receptacle, plug and cord to the intended load. Each connection needs a documented basis. Matching a visible shape or a voltage label is only one part of that review.
For each intended load path, put these identities side by side:

An adapter adds a connection at each end; it does not resolve missing electrical data. Voltage, frequency, phase, conductor functions, ratings and protection still need review. If an adapter or conversion lead is proposed, give it a separate accessory row with both end identities and the applicable documents.
This comparison is for product and RFQ documentation. It is not permission to connect a generator to building wiring. Building inlets, transfer equipment, fixed wiring, field installation, protection design, grounding or earthing design, and commissioning remain outside this page.
Lock protection, evidence, and labels to each interface
An outlet count without its circuit map can hide important differences between quotations. Require every interface row to point to its associated protection and show whether several receptacles share a circuit, device, or output limit.
The supplier return should state:
- interface ID and circuit ID.
- protection-device type and exact identity where controlled.
- ratings and markings as stated in the applicable document.
- which interfaces share the device or output path.
- limits or simultaneous-use conditions stated for the offered build.
- drawing, data sheet, label, and manual references with revisions.
Keep component evidence separate from generator evidence and destination acceptance. A receptacle's document cannot by itself establish conformity or market eligibility for the complete SKU.
For each report, certificate or declaration, record its identity, issuer and status. Add the covered object, model/build, destination scope, revision and exclusions. Return evidence that cannot be tied to the offered set.
Visible information must agree with that record. Compare the panel marking, receptacle marking, protection label, nameplate, warnings, manual illustrations, and packaging copy. Return the pack when a label rounds, renames, or contradicts a controlled value or interface designation.
Approve plugs, cords, and loose accessories separately
“Plug included” does not identify the shipment contents. Give each mating plug, finished cord set or loose adapter its own row. The buyer needs to know exactly which object ships and which documents cover it.

The quotation, packing list, accessory artwork, manual, sample package, and BOM should all use the same identity and quantity. If a connector is required but not supplied, the commercial record should say so directly instead of leaving the buyer to infer an exclusion.
Reconcile sample, artwork, and production records
Sample approval is a revision decision, not a visual impression. Before release, compare the accepted interface matrix against the physical sample and every file that will guide production or reach the customer.
Use a cross-check register:

Record every deviation as accepted, rejected, or still open. Silence is not acceptance.
Reopen the affected rows if a connector, output panel, protection device, cord or accessory changes. Changes to labels, manuals, artwork or the electrical build need the same check. Record part substitutions before approving the new production revision.
Apply COMPARE, RETURN, or STOP
The interface matrix controls three decisions. It does not manufacture a compatibility or compliance promise.
COMPAREmeans quotations describe their interface scope on the same controlled basis. The SKU, output architecture, interface identities, protection mapping, accessories, source files, revisions, and open items can be compared row by row.RETURNmeans a supplier-controlled answer or file is missing, broad, stale, or inconsistent. Return the named row and request the exact designation, scope, evidence, drawing, photo, label, accessory, or revision required.STOPmeans the records conflict, the output architecture is unresolved, or approval depends on a destination compliance, building connection, protection, grounding/earthing, safety, or installation decision with no qualified owner.
Return or stop when any of these remains:
- the quotation uses only a regional or generic outlet name.
- the interface shape is being used as proof of ratings or conductor functions.
- output values or rating terminology differ among the quotation, nameplate proposal, data sheet, and manual.
- a connector, circuit, protection device, or shared-output relationship has no traceable document.
- the sample, panel drawing, artwork, packing list, and BOM show different interfaces or quantities.
- a supplied plug, cord, or adapter lacks an exact identity, quantity, scope, or rating source.
- a component document is being used as whole-generator or destination approval.
- an unapproved substitution appears after sample acceptance.
- closing the row would require field-wiring or system-design assumptions.
COMPARE is permission to compare commercial offers. It is not final engineering approval of the generator, connected load, installation, or destination conformity.
Send one controlled interface RFQ
Send the current Destination SKU Interface Matrix with the quote request. Identify the buyer SKU and revision, destination, intended use, language and quantity. Attach the electrical-basis record and the intended load's connector documents. List the requested evidence, sample plan and open decisions with their owners.
Require the supplier to return:
- quotation/build identity and response revision.
- rated/maximum basis, voltage, frequency, phase, output architecture, and controlling documents.
- one complete row for each generator output interface.
- circuit/protection mapping and any documented shared-output limitations.
- exact mating plug, cord set, and loose-accessory identities, quantities, inclusions, and packing references.
- panel drawing, sample photo plan, labels, manual/artwork, evidence register, and revisions.
- deviations, exclusions, unanswered fields, and the owner of each next decision.
- sample-approval and production-release state plus the rule for future changes.
